We’re very pleased to confirm that legendary Hull singer-songwriter Mike Greaves has agreed to open the night for Paul and Jacqui.

For old Beautiful South fans, Mike is a familiar face and name, and the band recorded some of Mike’s tremendous songs- and as you will find out on December 12th, he continues to write and perform new songs. Mike was also a big part of Paul’s show the ‘8th’ which was released on CD.

An old favourite is Mike’s song ‘Diamonds Always Shine’ which appeared as a B-side on ‘Old Red Eyes is Back’. Mike and Jacqui performed the song together at Paul’s pub in Salford a year or two ago:

Of the ‘Hatfield Brigade’ - the Hatfield Main Coalminers we are supporting, we are pleased now to unveil a (blurred) version of the T-shirt that will be available to purchase on the night. These T-shirts will be strictly limited edition. All profits from the sale of the ‘Heatongrad to Hatfield Main’ T-shirt will go to the miners to help them and their fight to preserve and keep the memory alive of their history, community and culture.

On the practical front, if you are attending the gig, there are a number of ways you can show solidarity with our other partners on the night. The Campaign Against Living Miserably will be selling the limited edition GMB Union ‘Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott’ badge. All proceeds from these sales will go towards fighting male suicide.

For the Foodbanks, if you can spare a non-perishable item or two, they will be greatly received. Last year Porch Boxes in Bury were able to deliver over 300 Christmas boxes to families across Bury, Middleton and central Manchester. As well as food items, these boxes include every day essentials like toothpaste, deodorant, shampoos etc.

In Moss side, the people in the Foodbanks there were able, with your generosity, to provide warm breakfasts for the homeless and those just in need of a warm meal and a friendly face over the festive period.

As with last year, we are very pleased to welcome Suma Wholefoods aboard, the UK’s largest independent wholefood wholesaler/distributor, specialising in vegetarian, fairly traded, organic, ethical and natural products. Suma are a workers’ co-operative committed to ethical business.

There's some more about Suma here.

They will be distributing their foods across Manchester via the GMB Union to those in need in Oldham and the surrounding areas.

But most of all, this evening will be about solidarity. So if you cannot contribute any more than what you have already paid for your ticket, we understand, and you are still most welcome to join us.
